교회는 국가의 양심

"교회는 국가의 주인이나 종이 아닌 국가의 양심이란 사실을 반드시 상기 시켜야만 합니다. 교회는 국가의 안내자와 비평가가 되어야지 절대 그 도구가 되어선 안됩니다. 만약 교회가 그 예언자적 열성을 회복하지 않는다면 교회는 도덕과 영적 권위를 상실한 무익한 사교 모임으로 전락해 버리고 말 것입니다."

“The church must be reminded that it is not the master or the servant of the state, but rather the conscience of the state. It must be the guide and the critic of the state, and never its tool.
